Rosh Hashanah – Feast of Trumpets

It’s fun to celebrate the Jewish Feast days. They all point to Jesus. Since the holiday is already in process and I am late in sharing information, let me encourage you to at least do something simple. Here are some easy ideas:

  1. It is considered the Jewish New Year or as believers we can consider it a spiritual New Year. It is a celebration of the creation of Adam. (and so much more!) Give a greeting and bless one another a SWEET New Year.
  2. The most commonly know treat are apples dipped in honey. This represents blessings for the sweetness of a new year. You can say this blessing with it: “Blessed are You, our God, King of the universe, who creates the fruit of the tree.”
  3. It is a time to A. Reflect on the past year, B. Resolve any issues such as ask make apologies or ask for forgiveness, C. and then to Refresh and look forwared to the next year with no baggage from the past. Philippians 3:12-14
  4. A ceremonial tradition is to “cast mistakes (sins) into a body of water”. They will use breadcrumbs or empy their pockets of lint. Micah 7:19

SORRY for such a brief and fast blog – but I wanted to at least encourage you to take a moment to observe and recognise the Holiness of the season and to practice it.

P.S. SEE Nemo? He is a fish head – I couldn’t find one in the grocery stores. BUT – I did have Nemo. A fish head represents the head of the year. It also represents that you are the “head and not the tail” Deuteronomy 28:13. It’s a great time to talk about leadership.
